Take a Train is the fourth in a series of intermediate jazz duets for trumpet. This series of duets is unique in that they incorporate improvisation as an essential element. Take a Train is based on the chord changes of Take the “A” Train by Billy Stayhorn. The duet evokes themes from Strayhorn’s classic composition while providing a new take on this classic from the Ellington songbook.
